If you want to get more mathematical you should look into how euler's number 'i' is used to map from the time domain to the frequency domain

it simplifies electrical formulas form PDEs (partial differential equations as functions of time) into phasors (vectors) and transforms the equations into simple arithmetic and algebra instead of solving complicated calculus
it's an amazing insight
