It's kinda funny to me that Uber actually got enough funding to build a real taxi business with much better service than competition but decided to go the gig route because it was "new and trendy" to the investors.

Also, sometimes I think to myself "If I was running a delivery/taxi service through 3rd party independent contractors, what could be the next thing I could optimize?" and I fail to find an answer besides "Well, I'd optimize the cost of maintenance and stuff by using same cars, buying in bulk or whatever". They had a story for the future with the self driving cars but now that they have given up on that what's the end point? Do they need to scale to Mars to be able to make profits?

Is this the stock market equivalent of a shitcoin?
> Completely insane valuation
> Insiders shilling and dumping on normie investors
> Might never be profitable
> "B-b-but w-w-we a-a-are the Amazon of transportation. T-t-that's why we're losing billions every year"
Right.. Except ride sharing has shitty network effects and low barriers to entry so the Amazon model makes no sense
> Will get BTFO'd by Waymo, Tesla etc. in a couple of years because of their superior autonomous driving tech, data and integration with other products (Tesla has their cars, Alphabet has Google maps)
> The ride sharing/ robot taxi industry might end up like the airline industry where margins are razor-thin
