The difference between a stock split as a dividend versus a regular stock split is thus; in a regular stock split, it's like taking a candy bar and breaking it into a certain number of pieces - in the scenario of gamestop it'd be like snapping a hersheys bar into fourths were it a traditional split. In a stock split issued as a dividend, you are given three more whole-ass candy bars for every candy bar you had already bought and still had by a certain date - in the case of gamestop, so long as you held shares on or before the 21st, you were to receive three more shares for every share you already held. Technically the date of record was the 18th but you could buy a share as late as the day before the dividend issuance and still receive the three dividend shares, and it would double-fuck shorts to have done so (like I did) because the only way you could buy a share during that time period was to buy it from someone creating fake shares through abusing the locate-to-borrow system and a myriad of other methods of criminal activity as everyone that wasn't actually fucking retarded was refusing to sell during that time.
