....I don't want to link directly to the particular video or comment thread because I made my Youtube account a decade ago and like an idiot used my real name. Here's the channel at least https://www.youtube.com/@itsjamesly

But I'm absolutely correct in asserting
>a coin has to be made or directly authorized by a sovereign government
>a coin has to have a socially-accepted prescribed face value as part of a larger currency system that isn't strictly the weight or composition of the coin
Lots of things come close to coins but aren't. Liberty new dollars aren't coins because although they have a face value, they aren't from a government and definitely weren't approved by the host government. Goldbacks are approved by the government but aren't tied to any real currency system, the numbers on them are merely representative of the gold content. Presidential medals are approved and made by the US government but have no prescribed face vale. Ancient coins like Denarius are a bit weird because the value wasn't directly minted onto the coin itself, but the general cultural zeitgeist accepted them as Denarii, they were payable to the state as taxation and they were minted by the state, so they're coins.

I hope it does collapse soon enough that I don't have to work retail wagie jobs for much longer, I have high-functioning autism and the constant information stimulation of outside life is overbearing. I just want to be a coin shop autist.

I do this with my vidya collection. Not only do I keep a spreadsheet through a collector's app, I also keep a spending sheet on my notes app and own multiple collector's guides. I don't even feel like a "collector", I buy what I want to play just got a lot of it over the years.
