...how is bitcoin recession/depression proof if the decentralized ledger requires computers to remain connected to a network and powered on at all times?
If we go full Mad Max,there wont be electricity providers. Also during the initial blackouts, the state of the blockchain immediately prior to blackout would be lost unless people had backups. And doing that means the blockchain has to be rolled back. Which has a hell of a lot of implications. On top of that, after the blackouts it'd become ridiculously hard for the average joe to either cash out or make use of the bitcoin as banks start to go belly up.
Lastly, but probably most importantly, the fucking Winklevosses and Wright hold so much fucking bitcoin that they could just fucking dump their bags and take everyone's money at the very start of a recession when people are looking to find a hedge. Its barely decentralized when you look at the holders of full bitcoins.
