I know this isn't "Geology General", but I was wondering if you lads could help me identify this large rock/mineral vein sample. I bought this rock out of a woman's yard during a sale this summer. She said it had been put there by her uncle, who was a "collector of oddities", years ago. The center of the vein is some kind of rusty red mineral, surrounded by darker spiderwebbing. There are also some clusters of clear/whitish crystals. I only have a basic understanding of geology myself and I don't really have proper testing materials, but if there's any other info/photos/tests that would help, let me know. The rock must weigh at least 50-75 pounds. I nearly threw my back out getting the bastard up the stairs. ASE for scale and relevance.
