The real value in Pokemon cards (all cards really except maybe sports, not as familiar with that section of cards) is holding sealed product long term (5+ years).

Very few people hold sealed product, and as it gets older the supply dwindles as people buy it up and open it to find the high value cards. You can look at any sealed booster box of Pokemon from pre-XY sets (and even some earlier XY sets like Phantom Forces, Furious Fists, and Flashfire) and you will see the major gains that can be had from holding these products for a relatively short period of time.

Vintage cards have been doing extremely well in value recently. The big upswing started with Logan Paul opening a 1st edition booster box last year, and he has acquired 7 or 8 more which he is opening at the end of this month, so expect the value of rarer 1st edition base set cards, shadowless base set, base set 2 and XY Evolutions to increase in value. I highly suggest if you see any Evolution ETB's or Kanto Power collection boxes to buy and hold until the end of the month to maximize resalability, though either of these products can be purchased at retail and sold for a pretty signicant profit currently.

I think you could get around $100CAD for a card like this. The scratching on the holo and the crease on the left side by the fire spin definitely lowers the value. Would need to see the back of the cards as well. Still worth sleeving and top loading though.

Yeah in retrospect it makes me kind of bummed out about the ton of Evolutions packs I opened prior to it jumping up in price. But sometimes it just be like that. For newbies looking to cash in on Evolutions you'll basically have to poach your Walmart everyday and keep an eye out for 2 products: Kanto Power Boxes and Evolutions Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs). I believe retail Kanto Power is ~$80CAD and resells for $200-250CAD for example.

I do not advise buying single booster packs on cards from pre-XY era as they were easy to weigh. You will often see things on eBay like "FOSSIL SET HEAVY PACK" for sale. Anything XY and up added code cards that make the weights pretty challenging to distinguish the contents.
