You guys honestly sound like fucking newfags. One day of pumping 25% is nothing. It's one whale washing a lot of bitcoin in a hurry. XMR whales will sell to overzealous buyers until it settles back down again near whatever the 90 day average is.

I am long XMR but you guys seriously need to chill the fuck out and accumulate quietly. Be patient.

Other than these are there any altcoins that have a serious shot at gaining serious adoption within 5 years?

No BAT. I don't care if it's already mass adopted it's not crypto it's just broswerbucks.

Has Monero achieved the original vision of crypto?

>creating an untraceable, untaxable, decentralized currency

I'm very tempted to just put all my money in this and wait. Seems to me like if the original vision for what cryptocurrency was supposed to be has any merit, XMR should be worth just as much as BTC if not more. Tell me why I'm retarded biz.

Instead of posting this meaningless rant about FUDders, how about you just address my point? Everyone would love a brand new blockchain technology that revolutionizes privacy. Unfortunately nobody can corroborate Dero's claims because nobody knows how it works. Why should we just trust what some anonymous devs claim? How the fuck is this FUD?

The one that is worth $150 is the only Monero, XMR. That is what I'm telling you. The others are just fucking scams bought and sold by delusional Cryptonight v6 owners that bought a $5000 paperweight. They have zero future.
>>9810928
What? The entire premise of Monero is to be ASIC resistant for the time being which is why they forked the algorithm back in March to brick Jihan's ASICs. Monero (XMR) will keep bricking ASICs every 6 months for the foreseeable future.

We'll agree to disagree. Zk-snarks are great but ZCash itself will always be down a peg in my book because of the trusted setup and dev tax. What I like about Monero is the development team isn't married to ring signatures as the be all, end all method of fungibility. They're flexible. If zero knowledge proofs stand the test of time and it makes sense to incorporate them into Monero at some point in a way that is completely trustless, they're open to incorporating them.

>>9397908
Re: Monero: Ring signature mixins were bumped up to 7 at the minimum now. Either way, your logic is flawed because it's completely impossible to tell a real output from a false one assuming you even knew where to look in the first place. (You wouldn't.)

This.

Monero is the only coin that does what it actually claims to do without any compromises. Under the right conditions, the other privacy coins "work" but because they are either 1) not private by default or 2) use some kind of trusted setup.

BITMAIN et al. will have to think long and hard before trying to make another ASIC now that the devs have committed to an algo tweak every 6 months. You just can't fab chips fast enough for it to be worthwhile because that's just not how TSMC works.

I seriously can't fathom why people shit on Monero. Do some fucking research off /biz/ for once and see how liberating this coin is.

Ledger XMR support was already imminent - the commit has been written, tested, and slated for inclusion in the March client update. Then today we hear from the Trezor CTO that Monero support is coming "SOON:"

https://www.reddit.com/r/TREZOR/comments/81q530/is_monero_going_to_have_a_trezor_or_ledger_wallet/dv4ydtw/?context=3

Rock-solid fundamentals, bulletproof privacy, and now hardware wallets. I can't see a reason to hold any other coin, besides perhaps BTC or LTC gateways to fiat.

There are a few. Kraken is one of the biggest in the US for direct USD/XMR trades. You have to go through some verification steps if you want to hook up a bank account but other than being a bit slow sometimes it's a legit site for simple trades.

>>8034417
Uh, zoom out? Monero has been sluggish over the past month or two but seriously look at last year. Also it's still instadumped by botnet miners (and will be) until we hit tail emission over the next few years. It's getting harder and harder to mine for sure though.
