Corporations are pathetic everywhere. But compared to US and some other developed nations, Aussi corporations are literally rotting inside for hiring people for positions that sometimes nowhere in line with their education / exoerience. It’s as if you look Chad / Stacy with connections and a cheesy smile, nothing else matters (not even a muh MBA) ! Anecdotally labour market aberrations are just jaw-dropping - Biomedical engineer driving trains / real estate salesman heading a tech VC farm. Some of the LinkedIn profiles are terrible - no connection between education / experience to current job.

What went wrong? Complacency for being a “luck country” having a long economic honeymoon period fueled by mining and real-estate bubble.
