It's not important for small businesses right now. If someone squats on their name they can just walk away and let him hold the name until he either drops the price or lets it expire. Your local shop most likely isn't planning to get into the metaverse or Web3, isn't worth scamming with their .eth, might not even care at all and even if they do they can just buy a derivative of their name. Overall pricing will be forced to stay competetive because of different incentives (scam risk, upkeep cost, missing out on web3, potential error on the squatters site leads to him becoming doxed and sued, etc) coming together but still good enough for early buyers to get a profit. Naturally some competitors will take up a part of the marketshare but .eth is the .com of web3 and it's really just that for the average squatter $50k is a lot but for big brands it's toilet-paper money. Rules are different depending on the size of the brand, there are billion $ companies out there that don't care about branding at all so there's little leverage for a squatter, something like Nike/Hublot/Tiffany is an entirely different thing and their customer group is different too. A multi billion $ steel beam producer doesn't have to care about it the way a fashion/luxury brand has to, even if their revenue is the same. The squatters leverage still is larger than in web2 but not overpowering.
