>I've used the USPS for over half a century (yes I'm old, get over it)

Post cool oldfag stories from the good 'ole days anon, have you been a collector/stacker your whole life? Ever pull sweet stuff from circulation like Big Bob's uncirculated 1972 DDO cents or my grandpa's 1955 or 1942/1 merc?

>you can send a 2 cent letter if you don't abbreviate the address and don't include the zip code or write zip exempt. Have tried it in the past with success

An old collector/digger buddy once sent me a 4X4X6" box with an antique bottle in it that had the same sort of wording and address format, it cost something like 36 cents. I still don't understand the legal theory or interpretation invoked and figured maybe the USPS just sighed and let stuff like that go through rather than suffer the wrath of based schizo Sovereign Citizen boomers. Definitely still curious about how it "works".

>But one I found was just DD date. Not sure what the various types are worth now, but I figure if I had 4 of them BU at least one is worth something now.

Ah yeah that's right, I've looked at the Cherrypicker's Guide before and there were a bunch of different DDO varieties, some 1972-D DDOs too. Even if yours weren't all the best variety that is still a damn good haul, hopefully you used the money you got on things that were worthwhile in retrospect?

I've related it before, but an old college friend of my parents told me about how when he was 7 or 8 he got a really weird penny in change which made him feel like he'd gone cross-eyed when he looked at it. Kept it a few days and showed friends at school, but then decided to invest it in a gumball machine. "That was the most expensive piece of candy I've ever bought" was his wistful conclusion, kek.

>this is exactly the kind of coin that won't have collector's value, because everyone is going to buy and hoard them thinking they will. it's happened many times throughout history

I keep trying to tell 'em that contrived "limited mintage" or commemorative collectables aren't the same as legitimate rarities. It's funko pop tier midwit bait.

>my fellow coin dealers

IQDELET's larp has evolved from trading SLV options to fund trips to Bali and Vail to being a professional coin dealer?

If he posted some genuine pics of his numismatic inventory and screenshots of his options trades to provide context for his breathless FUDtrolling it might earn some credibility, but thus far all evidence points to him being a poorfag thirdie seething ceaselessly about his crushing poverty.

>Unless you are a toddler making 1 penny or even 5 pennies seems hardly worth your effort

Depends on the penny anon. Perhaps I'm mistaken but I think most copper hoarders engage in it as more of a hobby than a serious investment strategy. There is one anon who has a good system of buying clean scrap then melting and pouring ingots to sell online for fat premiums, that's one of the best ways to generate quick profit from copper at a small individual scale that I've heard of.

>Getting a plastic slab graded is absolute ass sniffing Funko Pop tier basedfagging.

I still think slabs themselves are unbearably lame, reading anon say people get plastic cases graded too almost made me vomit. Luv me some numisfaggotry provided I get good deals I could easily profit from if forced to sell, as opposed to buying overpriced coins from APMEX or Goldberg's Coin Shoppe, but authentication services and graded slabs take away all the skill and expertise once required to navigate numismatics and have opened the door to wealthy speculators, normies and soulless nouveau riche Chinks and Arabs, none of whom belong in the space. It's probably how autistic weebs feel when they hear absolute normans talk about watching dubbed Death Note or the like. I observed with dismay as the market has slowly changed since I was a kid, and have personally always avoided abominable slabshit like the plague as it's not only overpriced, but it also prevents one from fondling and soaking up the history and sovl of a coin which is a central reason I collect in the first place. Sorry for sperging but I really hate slabs and the hordes of midwits they have attracted to coins.

>Anyone else got heirloom PMs?

Posted it before, I inherited some copper worth 10x its weight in gold from Gramps, he won the DDO in a penny poker game in 1961 and as a US coin collector he knew exactly what it was, it was his most prized coin. Keep it in a book most of the time but take it out for gentle fondling periodically.
