The risk is that it can lose an insane amount of its value and it would take an insane amount of time to recover. If you lose 90% of your portfolio, you'd have to make 900% to get back to your original 100% investment. And losing 90% is a lot easier for 3x leveraged ETFs. Look at $NAIL for example. We went down hard after 2018 and it'll probably be a long time until you get back to those levels. So if you're a holder from back in 2018 you just wasted 2 years.
