To answer OP's larp:

LINK is paid to each faithfully participating reporter of true & accurate data for every legally binding self executing smart contract (bad reporters are penalized by forfeiting staked LINK); the value of these tokens must reflect the value of whatever's at stake in every smart contract -- many of these contracts will handle the secure transfer of about five billion dollars per day worth of purely financial transactions *when* about 10% of the entire derivatives market alone is handled by the Chainlink network (incidentally saving billions of dollars every month which otherwise would have been spent paying salaries et al for millions of white collar paper pushers whose entire careers are obsolesced by ChainLINK.
