It's usually a little shaky. Investors don't like uncertainty so your share prices will be rocky at first until things get settled down. It can be good or bad though.

For example, Blackrock Gold is spinning out their silver cloud property as they feel like their Tonapah property is stealing the show, and despite the great value of Silver Cloud it's not being priced in to the share price. So theoretically spinning out Silver Cloud should allow greater overall value to current Blackrock shareholders.
