china's econemy starts shrinking
if china liquidating US treasuries is like them shooting us in the foot, then its like sawing off their own legs too

any short term gain they get from it will be offset by the sudden end of growth in their own economy

and besides, there is no other consumer market nearly the size of america's to buy their cheap crap instead
there would be massive layoffs in china across the board, every sector

it may lead to protests in the US from the handfull of people who miss out on a pay raise(and pissed off CEO's of course), but there would be riots in china from the entire towns/small cities that suddenly experience 50% or more unemployment

and besides, only a little over 30% of us treasuries are owned by foreign governments, the FED alone has 15%, our state governments have another 5% or so too
