And Bogle has an excellent argument and his wisdom should be heeded. My current thinking is that wealth should be allocated thusly:
60% Lowest fee Index funds, as much as possible in a Roth IRA
~10% Gold
~10% Cash (liquidity for buying dips and other opportunities)
<10% Crypto
<10% Stock Picking

However stock picking is fun and educational, and people are prone to want some control over their financial destiny.
