That, honestly, just sounds like the people implementing the thing did a shit job. Or, equally plausible, boomers uncomfortable and afraid of automation spreading FUD.

Probably did a horrible job preprocessing, or trained it on images with a different distribution than ones it would actually encounter, or any number of things.

You want segmentation for medical images, so the model is clearly interpretable. Here is the issue, human-san, I have highlighted it in yellow.
