Welcome to the first lesson in life: never live with yours or your SO's parents. Unless they're old and need to be taken care of, i guess, but even then, make sure you have a buffer, like you live on a different floor of the house or another neighboring area altogether. Realistically you should've learned this in college or something.

They WILL pester and argue with you for hours on end for the pettiest shit. Shit test after shit test after shit test when you come home and you just want to sit back and relax a little. Even worse if one or both of them are retired because then they have a shitton of free time that they don't know how to fill because they're fucking boomers and their generation only knows to watch tv and gossip on the phone with other boomers.

Unless you're the breadwinner and it is abudantly clear that you are the one that pays for the house and living, but even then, some people are just ungrateful and LOOVE drama.

I came home today tired after working the night shift at my job and sat down to have breakfast with my mom before going to bed. Big mistake, shoul'dve gone to bed right away.
Out of fucking nowhere my mom snaps at me because one of her friends informed told her that she only pays like 7 dollars for her phone plan while I pay twenty and she goes on and on about how I must be an idiot because I'm lazy and stupid and obviously must like spending so much on my phone plan. Goes on arguing for like 20 fucking minutes while I'm sitting there trying to enjoy my fucking breakfast. And not just arguing, angry arguing, the kind of nagging only a fucking housewife with decades of pent up frustration can muster. I sat there taking it because what can you do? Even if you argue back, there's no winning. Today it's the phone plan, tomorrow it will be car bills or whatever new pointless shit she decides to berate you about for the day.

There's no winning and most importantly no gain in living with your elders, get the fuck out asap.
