CLF is working on buying US Steel, so that would make it three. The automakers are against this because then they'd basically be buying from one supplier.

>>58198930
Yup. Protectionist presidents + consolidation == higher average prices.

Another thing that makes steel prices look poised for higher prices is that 70% of our steel is made using recycled steel (electric arc furnaces). For optics, recycled steel sounds "greener" than integrated steelmaking, but it relies on a steady supply of scrap steel to be available. As these recycled producers add capacity, if the main input material (scrap) is short in supply, that will also cause prices to rise for steel.

We'll see, said the wise man.

What makes you people pick out shitty pump and dump penny stocks? I remember it was ONTX when I first started coming on here and then it turned into CLF, mutant fish, and electric mail trucks.

I think it makes CLF and X stocks that have so many unknowns that it's kind of gambling at this point. X is priced over what CLF offered, but less than what Nippon offered. That makes me think X might not be a good buy at this price. But, truth of the matter is they might just not sell it at all. These minimills like NUE and STLD have been the bangers lately, they just have better margins than an ancient, union, integrated producer like US Steel.

I agree Biden said those things because he wants to win votes in those critical states. If he didn't say them, then Trump would have had some great ammunition to attack that deal. In my personal opinion, Japanese owning US Steel would have been our best bet. We still have lots of other steel production in the US, and CLF buying US Steel probably would have been a problem for our already suffering (rightly so, they kinda suck) automotive industry. It's kind of a mess.

>>58088290
You're probably right. I mean I'm long steel futures (brutal because the contracts are 20 short tons, so I better be right lol) and a bunch of commodity stocks. The first ones I bought through a broker so also have a small fee, but not too bad, now I've figured out how to buy them myself. Steel is going up. The main risk right now is China, but, China doesn't want their shit to fail, and both our presidential options can't have steel be a problem, so I don't think it'll be a problem. I have one may, june, and july contract, all in the 780-790 range, so fingers crossed I guess. Right now I'm already up really big and might sell one of them soon just for some piece of mind. The May contract I can sell at 908 today. About a $2,500 gain. I think it's too early though, going to sleep on it. I think the others will do better and aren't selling for as much currently.

I like steel for sure. I think we've bottomed.

CLF, I'm unsure about. You think it's going to break out? What concerns me about CLF is I think that stock is being highly influenced by the US Steel - Nippon Steel drama, and it has since completely broken the trend of correlating fairly well with scrap prices (they are all minimills, after all).

Funny thing is, he was right about CLF, but everyone hated him because of how obnoxious he was. And in the end he lost all of the money he made on CLF by gambling SPY options.

Lots of steel news this week. Biden said he opposes Nippon Steel buying US Steel. CLF and union campaigned against bid, Trump said it's no good to have a foreign owner, and so Biden basically had to say the same for political reasons/votes. Lots of action in those stocks, US Steel (X) fell a bunch because now there can be no foreign buyer, therefore the company is worth much less.

Scrap and steel are still falling, iron ore crumbled this week. Most of this is driven by China falling apart, huge capacity oversupply situation. I do think we're going to reach a bottom here in the next month or so anyways.

Lol
Nothing to say except in 2020 when everything went up there was a weird meme where people would buy IPOs as they debuted. Normally IPOs are dumpfests for the investors, but PLTR was shilled here as a great investment. It had an mcap in the billions despite having no revenue (similar to nvidia's trillions to nothing revenue).

Anyway PLTR had this crazy run from 8 dollars to 36 dollars with redidit saying it would go to 120 bucks and /smg/ hating it and then there was a precursor to the GME stuff with some jew declaring PLTR sucks and then the price got dumped all of a sudden by rich guys shorting it to make their shorts on expiry day.

I remember the SOXL NIGGER AND the CLF tranny both hated PLTR.

I'm surprised they still love it, years later.

The logical course for NVDA this year, with the way it's heading down now, is to keep going down and FILL THAT GAP during the spring. Then during the summer slow season it will begin gaining again, dump less in september, then october-november will be a wild run as the people backing Biden push Nvidia up so that Nasdaq can break 20k and nvidia can break 5 trillionmcap and become the biggest company. This will be the bedrock of Joe Biden's strong (lol) economy and the reason why he will defeat Trump 45-44 with 330 electoral votes (he will flip north carolina, but lose georgia).

The thing about scrap is that it leads steel, versus if I graph scrap + CLF, for example, it correlates greatly but scrap doesn't seem to lead enough to give me clues as to when to buy. So I'm stuck at the "I see scrap moves before steel, but how do I translate that into what stock to buy?"

I think the answer may partially be learning some TA in combination with knowing these correlations. I don't know where to start though, are there any good tutorials?

>> No.57393734 [View]

>>57391418
Nope, that's someone else. CLF is an interesting company though, they tried to buy US Steel at something like 30/share and then the nips came in and tried at 45/share, but now the unions are in the way. Will be interesting to see what happens there.
