I was thinking in terms of crypto, I was hoping to get 10-12 BTC for it. That was before the recent pump though so I guess I might have to adjust the USD equivalent. No immediate plans for the money.

I'm just weighing the pros/cons of holding onto it. I have other projects/interests that require my time/money. This site could probably chug along for 18-24 months earning roughly the same with no content being added, but that doesn't appeal to me. I don't like the idea of just leaving it and letting it become stale.

They haven't done any research and from the outside looking in /biz/ appears to be a place where degenerate gamblers and 3rd worlders come to try and scam each other. They aren't wrong but they are blinded by their emotions.

Transporting by sea is complicated and risky due to piracy. To reduce the density of the cargo you would want to separate the bars, I would actually encase them in foam so they float even if the boat sinks. Advantage here is you only need one boat to travel with the gold once, disadvantage it might take a month to arrive.

Total cost would be probably a few hundred thousand to charter the boat and arrange crew.

My preference if I were arranging transport would be via plane. The Boeing 777F has a range of 9000km and a payload of 100 tons. You would need to make 40 round trips to move all the gold using one plane. You could reduce the cost of the plane by adding some other cargo on the return legs. Density of the gold would again be a problem, you would still want to pack it somehow to reduce density.

Airport security is much tighter than seaport security and piracy in the air is unheard of. Moving all the gold with one plane would take 1-2 weeks depending on airport delays and how many shifts / pilots you have. Total cost would be maybe a couple million dollars.
