Brand new to 3dcg. I plan to just learn as i go.

My question to you guys is, do i need to use the same engine that the devs used for the game with any mods i make?

For example, would i be able to use unreal engine or blender to craft an object for a game that runs on source engine?

Does anyone knows a plugin for 3D Max that does an automatic riging (human model)? Or any really good riging tutorial? (image merely illustrative)
