It's expected that you know theses programs when going for an interview, you'll be expected to show off your skills in a time interview in which you create something from scratch.

Often there will be a theme involved, but it's to test you that you know this stuff and can work speedly on it.

I'm glad you asked, It runs VIA steam and you get a year worth of updates before they stop supporting it but the product will keep running for you past let's say 2021 to infinite but you won't be able to update it to 2022.

I do apologize for my lack of activity lately, I will post more in the following weeks.

If you want an easy way to get into the industry then begin learning those programs and put your skill to work in places like the Team Fortress 2 Workshop, Rust Workshop, Counterstrike Go Workshop, Fallout 4 Modding Community & Second Life.

They will all make you money if you get items accepted, funding your passion with exception to FO4 as i believe they no longer accept applicants.

You've played timesplitters 2, right?

You remember the machine factory, right?

There's a barrel in that factory and this barrel top will pop up and allow it to shoot at the player and it also walks.

Turn your teapot into a mech, its top must pop up and allow it to shot and the base much have the ability for pop-out legs and theses legs must have some sort of wheel ability that it can switch between walking and traveling with using the wheels attached to theses legs.

After this you'll get a SMD File and now you've gotta import that file into 3D Max.

After importing you'll get an option to import animations and the mesh and flip it.
>Animations = Bones
>Mesh = Model

Ignore animations as we want it for concepting and then flip it, if its not the correct side up if you've clicked flip then don't click flip and reimport.

Once it's open then hit Printscreen on the front.

Open photoshop create a image and it should have the size of your montior if you clicked print screen and create that image.

Hit ctrl + v and the image will appear, edit out the bad bits such as toolbars and other shit.

There you go, you've got a picture of the item you want to replace.

Create another layer and lock your reference and begin drawing the item you want to replace it with over the image.

Gentlemen, Let's make some TF2 Items.

Basically, New community project is up and called "MAYANN Project' and i'll quickly explain how to create concepts and maybe make weapons.

You'll need the following items installed or downloaded.

Now. You'll need to open GCFSCAPE and find your TF2 directory and find this file, if your wondering what that is.

>Sounds = tf2_sound_vo_english_dir & tf2_sound_misc_dir

After you've found tf_misc_dir then extract it to something like RAWS

Now you've gotta search for what you want to replace, Let's say the default bat then you'll search for that it's either a C_ or W_ or V_ if your wonder what that means its basically just your view models which the older files are called World and View but now they are slowly been updated to C_

Once you've found it. De-compile it with MDL Decompiler Fixed or Studio Compiler depending if it doesn't work with MDL as some don't.

About a year ago, I talked with the head programmer that does maya and he said that there aren't plans to kill off max because it still can do many things that maya can't.

Another reason is that it is used by a great deal of architecture firms and is still required in that field.

Interesting enough, when i approach him on the subject of merging the two programs he said that wouldn't happen but he did say that alot of the features from max will be ported to maya.

I've just got to ask you, do you know how bump maps work? because bump maps are great if you aren't looking side on at it. Normals are what you'll want.

Bump maps are just the old verison of normals however they are still useful for certain things and could be applied to your weapon just i wouldn't recommend it.

I'll explain how to animate and model something in the 1980's.

You open up a text editor and begin typing the numbers into it.

Those numbers are the transform, rotation and scale.

Boxing out your model in Maya or Max. I.E getting dem shapes then using GoZ to export it to ZBrush to begin sculpting.

That's easy. You draw a bunch of ink outs.
>Those are black profiles of the mech, theses all need to be different say like one may be a floating bunch of objects that look like a mech while the next may look more like a dreadnought from 40K

After this stage you take the one you like and begin drawing line work for it.

Once your line work is done refine it.

After you've done that you can colour and give it some shadows, grey scale is the quickest to do.

Model it, You've got a concept now.
