Antoher take.... nitrous is a really powerfull viewport engine. Even with low end cards you can achieve this results with a couple of fps in your hands.

Two words: Nitrous viewport.

>> No.358640 [View]

You don't need unbiased shaders or renderers to achieve realistic results. SSS is great but does not make a huge difference for this specific scene. Proceed.

Cheers. I´ recommend 3d total´s tutorial section. It is not step specific but its fucking inspiring.

I did lightwave years ago. I prefer max since it has more "modular" interface.

As all programs, exercise is da key. > Pic

Sorry for the delay. I got banned for posting idiotic shit on /b/ last night.

Here´s a video I made so you can understand the mapping process in 3ds.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUyqxa9hIB4

Better download that shit cuz I ´m taking it down tonight.

Good remake of that model! The other sucked dick so hard I´m surprised it didn´t have pieces of foreskin stuck between the teeth.

>>357978
Agree. Don ´t even use SSS, it´s useles for arch viz. Ath that distance you won ´t even notice it but damn sure it will increase render times and noise.

SSS is so bad it´s responsible for Auschwitz, the plague, Justin Bieber, Ke$ha and the Bible.

Hardcore rendering =/= Pussy modelling, gaming

I think that having both types of cards gives me the opportunity to comment about them. You may have a 680 but I don ´t think you are using it for hardcore rendering like I do.

Shove that kepler up your ass.

First off you should use the Compact Material Editor instead of the Slate Material Editor.

IMO Its less confusing and saves screen space.

Ill check the model and tell you in a moment.

Working on a ArchViz video for a client.

The scene is over 90M polys.

GPU is getting laggy.

>> No.357936 [View]

This requires UVW mapping.

Could you provide a link to the model so I can help you?

Not my pic. But I had a gtx 570 that melted it´s plastic shell over a second one.

Dali had impressive realist painting skills before going to surrealist painting.

Technical skill is important. It is the only objective way to learn a program.

Only then can draw the shit you want.

I have both TESLAS and GTX cards. From a personal experience I would never leave a GTX card unnatended while rendering.
