Sup,

I've created that low-poly model of Ithaca M37. Texturing - it was my first time. What do you think ?

3ds Max / PS / nDo2 / Marmoset2 / xNormal

Yes.

1) Very dark
2) Sky looks strange

Not bad but clearly not pro work.

This is quite simple model because it's boxy (not many organic pieces etc) but still you need some knowledge and experience to model it right and nice.

Rather than messing around blender, find some good tutorial that makes similar object and learn from it.

I think after 2 - 3 good tutorials you will be able to model something similar with a good results.

Nah no TurboSquid yet. It was all about practice and fun. Maybe someday I will model something for TS but it will have to be really high quality model (own reference photos etc).

I could add some vray materials but clay renders are nice too.

Just practice man, look for some arch viz tutorials and learn from them.

Render doesn't look to good but i've seen worse. More practice makes you better.

Ok so,

Thats 3ds Max and Vray for render.

For the reference I used lot of different images from the internet (about 25+ HD images). So, almost everything was simply eyeballed. That makes no real locomotive here. I'm no locomotive expert so It may not be physically or mechanically correct but the main goal was to make it look just nice.

I didn't use loft for anything. Simple hard surface modelling and I took me about month to finish.

Thanks.

I've modelled that loco a while ago. What do you think ?

Looks cool but the main material kind of looks like leather

Sup,

No there is no need for Unwrap, just a simple box UVW map will do the job. Make one UVW modyfier for the whole thing (configure your map settings etc) then add edit poly. With that edit new poly, select polygons you want to have different grain direction and then add another UVW modifier (with that poly selection still enabled). Now you can just rotate/scale/transform box UVW gizmo to achieve desired effect. Result should be visible only on that "selected" in edit poly polygons.

In arch-viz 95% of the time simple UVW Mapping will be enough.
