I have to go along with these guys.

OP,
You're using SubDiv, so I assume you're comfortable with the poly count as-is going into your game engine. Just 'Apply' the subdiv, and use weight paint until you get a better deformation. Less weight on the top, more weight on the bottom. Remember to distribute the weight around your center (spine) and pelvis bones too. If things look wrong, you might be applying weight to the wrong bones.
Finally, consider not fixing this. No seriously. Or at least not spending a lot of time on it.

Getting good deformations at extreme angles like this is hard. Period. This is especially so in game engines where things like corrective morphs/blendshapes/shapekeys may be non-trivial to implement even if the engine supports them. If the skinning looks good at normal ranges of movement, consider giving up and moving on. Sounds bad, but you have to pick your battles.

Have you looked at BlenRig lately you retarded shithead?

BlenRig is unfinished, unmaintained, and all of the official documentation is 404'd. Fuck off, idiot.

Of what I'd call "big" improvements I've wanted to see to Blender, this was easily top of the list.

It's not like they haven't updated it to keep the tech and interface current. If I could afford to use Maya, I sure as hell wouldn't be using Blender.

Meanwhile simple shit like making the interface consistent between mesh edit mode and the UV editor gets no attention.

>When people notice you're doing well you'll end up with copycats flooding your niche and driving your profits to the ground.

Speaking from experience: this is in some ways worse than the pirates/content aggregators. If you have regular good quality updates, then piracy can actually drive subscriptions as people sign up who want material that hasn't been widely distributed outside your own site. However there's only so many dollars out there, and if the niche has more providers than the market can support, some of them are going to have problems.
