How come ugandan CGI 3D VFX artitst literally shit on multi hundred billion american movies in CGI SOVL.

Americans spend 500 trillion USD just to look worse than a slum director in uganda with 200 usd in budget.

This is a funny meme, but I often wonder if all the time investment we, as a collective, put into this shit is worth it. Imagine the amount of hours spent across the world just to perfect some roughness maps on 3D props across the world. For what exactly, at the end of the way? How will that ultra photorealism push the humanity forward in any way? Okay, unless metaverse and full virtual reality is the future, then it may be useful, but not in a good way.

I'm looking at myself, okay, I'm getting better and better at creating some virtual objects for some games - am I really using my life to the fullest potential? What if I invested more time in learning something that mattered and people benefited more from my work, AND I could have found equal joy in it too, if only I knew. In a way, this is one of the most pointless industries you can be in, we're not creating personal art anyway, we're all mostly just shallow content generators.

Convince me that this is a retarded thinking and I'm wrong, hopefully without the "at the end of the way nothing matters, just do what you enjoy" argument.
