So it's like paying for membership at a golf course, but you cheaped out and only got the membership that lets you sit in the clubhouse and watch everyone else play golf.
Then when all the people who played golf walks in, Blender will go, "N-nice job out there fellow members... but you need to keep your knees a little more bent haha". While the promoter tier chads like Google and Intel pretend like he's not even there, casually push him to the side (via the hand to face method) and keep walking into the "REAL MEMBERS ONLY" part of the clubhouse to discuss plans for their next golf game. While Blender stands outside eavesdropping and pretending he's part of the group.

At least, that's what I "imagine".

Based Autodesk having $14,500 more than Blender. It pays being the industry standart.

It's okay anon. I use Blender too. If you can't laugh at yourself/group then you've got no funny-bone in your body. In which case you should just kills yourself.
Actually, you should do that regardless.

Nah, I just think it's funny that they could only spring for $3k, with all the grants and shit they're getting from Epic and shit, you'd think they'd be able to do the $18k and be able to actually do something with the membership.

Fuck, a middle income family probably has $3k on hand for vacation. But I'm not running a company so who knows. Still seems like there's all of 3 dudes working at Blender though.

Ultimately though, the membership doesn't seem like it's all that important. Sure it's neat, but Blender won't contribute much in the grand scheme of things. I hope it does, but it probably won't

Blender doesn't need a higher tier membership because there is no reason to get it, getting the information early on and shaping blander beforehand is enough.

Yet the article wrongly makes it seem like they're having a direct hand in the goings-on, yet that's the furthest from the case.
It's even highlighted in the article, and not even as a generic description, they explicitly call out the (Blender) Foundation.

Besides, being a follower and knowing about something a few weeks before the unwashed masses isn't all that impressive. It's not like anyone who doesn't have a membership is going to use that information, and everyone that would already has a membership. So really, Blender's still playing keep-up.

This. Blender is in there so that can know where to push Blender so it can get more widely accepted in the industry. Their contribution is making themselves a better and more widely used tool, not making everyone else better. OP completely missed the point.
