Do any other 3D application see as much improvement as blender on every update?

Houdini. Every update for the past several years has seen significant updates/additions.

>"I've downloaded the latest stable version, 2.83, and nothing was done about the issues with subdivision modelling. We still have horrible perfomance, same modifiers, all worse than in 3ds Max (2.9 brings back a similar perfomance of 2.7x, but it's not enough). The multires modifier also offers a shitty perfomance (the new multires in 2.9 only works in sculpt mode, and also lacks perfomance, a lot). Sculpting can't be compared to Zbrush or Modo's one.

>The app is still a low-class app in perfomance terms, It's impossible to work with it. And you wonder why Blender is still not used in too many studios?.

>Too many minor improvements in this release, but not what is really important. The issue was adressed and closed as "solved". Resignation is what i have.

>2.9 alpha is there, but they improved it just a little. I'm sad.

>A shitty box like that, with the new subdivision modifier in 2.9, is very slow, similar to what we had with 2.78. I'm using 2 pcs, one with a GTX 1060 and other with a GTX 1070ti."

Worst update ever.

He's right, though. Blender sucks ass for modeling because of its embarrassingly low performance.

one thing is clear... if they manage to get edit mode performance at least on par or even a tad faster than the competition, the internet might implode.
edit mode performance is literally the only ammo autodeskfags still have against blender. the UI shit complaining doesn't pull anymore or at least as much anymore since they cater so much to deskfags with all those shiny buttons so that industry standard professionals don't get scared by shortcuts.

I wouldn't hold my breath on big edit mode performance gains anytime soon though.

Fuck you. Its people like you that made them change the UI from what I was used to. Now you complain about it not being good? Eat shit. I abandoned blender at 2.8 I fucking hate the new UI

>> No.747814

Which 3d programs have the best edit mode performance? I'm surprised how little it has improved in 20 years. I have models I made on 500mhz PCs with lightwave that still chug. Back then I would build them in 2d wireframe views.

I started using blender because of the great UI in 2.8, you people are retards. Also 2.7 UI was one of the worst I have ever seen, only comparable to zbrush.

>blender devs keep trying their hardest to appeal memedesk users while ignoring their own community.

LOL, blender is basically the same unusable open source quality shit that it always were.

Don't get blinded by ""features"" if none of these work efficiently or crash all the time

My advice, stay the fuck away from free software if you actually want to get work done and get into the business

Why would anyone want to "get into the business" in such a shit industry? I've got a STEM job where I don't have to worry about getting canned after crunching out the Sonic movie.

exactly. pro gamedev is a nightmare and vfx is somehow even worse apparently. you get this bizarre perspective on this board because it's mostly kids that dream of being a slave that makes cars for the next gta 16hrs a day, and they'll fetishize all aspects of "the industry", including the awful companies that make their software. no actual pro would ever have this "fuck yes autodesk wins again" attitude because autodesk is the ea of pro software (tied with adobe) and everyone "in the industry" fucking hates their guts. when i hear actual pros criticize blender it's in terms like "i wish blender was better so i could switch to it and never deal with fucking autodesk ever again". many freelancers etc are willing to switch to blender already despite it being objectively worse just because they'd be safe from getting fucked in the ass by these greedy companies.

How is adobe even remotely close to autodesk? You can get their full creative studio/cloud suite for as low as $30/month on promotion for a single user license. Maya alone is fucking $205. If it were like $10 like photoshop is then I would agree with you but autodesk is in another league altogether.

If blender wasn't good then why are you making such a massive effort to get people to stop using it? If it wasn't good you wouldn't need to be trying this hard going into every thread protesting it. There wouldn't even be blender threads if it wasn't good. Quit your shilling you faggot

Not at all. Blender's rigging sucks. Blender's UV tools suck. Blender's retopo tools suck. At least they are now have a small team focusing on the UV tools for 2.9, looking forward to see if it's going to bring blender's uv tools on par with every other 3d app from 10 years ago.
