blender is great for texturing but it is not advanced like substance painter. creating of the Mixer by Epic shows how fucking hard it is to make texturing tools and pipes for modeling and animation programs.

The longer I've been drawing the more I realized how true this meme is. This is a legit owl tutorial and you won't get much more out of most drawing tutorials than you get from this.

Is substance painter an actual texturing program? I fiddled around with it and it really just looked like a paint by numbers kind of deal where you put the numbers on and the program gives you a premade texture in the area in return.

What ? Yes it's a great texturing program and easy to use. For op problem I don't see why you would go through the trouble of doing a shader when you can just do it in literally 1 click in substance.
Just stick a smart material and it's already gonna be better than what you have.

Is there any way to remap the hot keys in SP? I feel like I'm having a fucking stroke going from blender to it. Also do you have to "bake stuff" for it to work or csn you just export a mesh with the textures you created?

As a lifelong drawist I will second your claim.

You could spend all day planning how to build a tower or you could just build the tower. All that in between stuff you usually see is different ways people plan it out and eventually you just know what needs to be and you don't need to plan much. The only way to know this is to draw enough. I'll still go back to my beginner tricks sometimes for complicated angles but usually I just go with the flow.

That being said I still like to look at people's tuts from time to time to see if I can learn something new. I don't study or anything like that. If it's good, it'll stick automatically.

It's pretty much industry standard.

so this is the power of blendlets....whoa...inspiring.....

>> No.739420

Just get used to it, you filthy blendoid. Better learn it while you can, before you become completely brainwashed by exclusively using Blender and unable to learn any new software.

You unwrap your model, texture it and export textures from SP. No need to "bake" anything, if I even understand what you mean by it.

Why is it that every time I see someone ask a question like this, I immediately think "This is beyond blendlet levels of retardation, this is full retard"?

leather has subsurf. that's why your material looks plasticky despite all your texture details.
