This. You may only get a feeling Blender is so hated because you haven't looked outside of this echo chamber. You would be surprised if you saw how many pros in various specialized Discord communites like Blender very much, and a lot of them have started learning it, even though they may not work with it in a professional setting. And now wait for somebody to attack this post and we'll have another one of those threads, thanks OP.

Oh one thing I need to mention - yes, this probably depends what those communities are focusing on - I was primarily talking about game art, and I guess Blender still isn't talked about as much in VFX.

Few hate blender or any other software, the hatred you see are between insecure people who fixate on the idea they must use the best software there is and convince others they're doing so.

Blendpots who subscribe to this line of thought are naturally insecure that the free software they're using is not as premium as that expensive 'Ferrari' of 'industry standard'.
Meanwhile the 'industry standard' fanbois are insecure how lots of people using free software can out-perform them so they appeal to what top tier studios can achieve with their package of choice.

These people deserve one another as they exhibit the same tier of childish mentality in comparing performance characteristics of their equipment
rather than focus on what they themselves are able to achieve with the tools available to them.

Comment sections for 3D software all over the internet are full of posts talking about Blender and they read 100% like they are written by mountain dew fueled ADHD children. It gets tiresome very quickly, and its been going on for years now.

It's just one of many tools used in productions, despite what many will have you convinced on this site. The ones that speak loudly against said software most likely, probably, 100% don't have a job in said industry using any tools. Not just blender.
