How can a bonafide retarded beginner like me make a monster mouth for GF3? How can I make an alt GF3 model that’s ‘read’ like GF3 and retains GF3 rigging? (Like Silent Sally?)

Step 1) Import GF3 into program X
Step 2) Model tummy mouth in X

Good idea, but I want it to follow along with G3F bend, sculpting, etc morphs- my novice understanding is that with a prop, it’s anchored to one node- and wouldn’t be able to follow along with the multiple torso segments
Current plan is to attempt to morph the G3F belly button in zbrush into a mouth/teeth- export more morphs on top of that for mouth movements- and then try and PS an overlay to load on top of G3F texture that will color the mouth right, instead of being distorted bellybutton tones.

Looked that up, and also found “Rigid Follow Node” - where you can basically thumbtack a prop to follow the transforms of a vertex or vertex selection. Line up a few Rigid follow nodes along the belly, attach the mouth- presto!
However, I’m assuming there’s a way to have a prop auto deform in accordance to follow a node it’s parented to- makes me think- dforce/weight maps? I’d hope there’s a simpler solution- dforce really bogs down my machine

Daz uses a base mesh which people adjust with various morphs. Morphs are what change the body shapes. Morphs can be anything from glute thickness to eyebrow depth. There's an infinite amount of them because people created them by taking the Genesis 8 mesh into another 3d program and editing her to create a new 'morph shape'.

Genesis 8 female, that's the base mesh. She is free, so are the textures that come with her.

Other characters are actually people's saved presets of morphs that have been applied to the Genesis 8 female.

Paid content is all the extra stuff. Extra clothes, textures, characters and morphs. There's a sea of shit which is why I have no issue pirating stuff. I have 300gb but in the end I use a lot of the same good quality morphs/textures etc.

People model clothes in other softwares so if it's good it's probably not free.

To answer your specifics assuming you only have the free content;
To change her eye color, find the surfaces tab. I think by default it's on the left side of the screen. If it's not there, right click in an empty space under some other tabs like parameters,morphs,posing and make sure Surfaces is also selected. Click on surfaces. Then select your figure. Surfaces basically is materials/textures. Expand her options until you see the the big list of all her surface areas like face, ear, torso, eyes etc. Now find the pupils, I think it's called pupil for g8f but one of the 2 eye tabs there and you will be able to see what texture it's using. You could either simply play with a color overlay of but it might end up looking trashy. So I suggest you click on the eye textures icon then press browse and it will take you to the location big the texture on your computer. Then you can edit that inagenin whatever software you like to change the eye color and simply plug in your new texture.

Hair color, exactly the same process but since hairs get complicated it may take you some time to edit all the textures they can use. I would suggest pirating a hairstyle you like, 99% of hairstyles put on the shop have a range of colours available to choose.

To change the color of clothes, use the same process as the eyes. Like hairs sometimes people will include alternative colour schemes but it's not as common. Often for clothes, another designer will do a texture add-on for a store set of clothes.

To learn about poses and animating first understand that animation in Daz is incredibly slown and sub par. If you have zero knowledge on animation, look up some animate tutorials for Daz. There's lots and it is easy to use but quick YouTube tutorial will be able to demonstrate what you need to do much better than I could explain.

The default is set for outside shot, for interiors you want to set it to around 400, makes a big difference.

Don't play with exposure ever really, because it's something you can do in post.

It automates a few things like renaming and shader convert. But you'll still need a lot of work on the materials so it's not really that much use.

If I remember correctly you don't get things like normal maps, bump maps and spec connected up at all.
So you would have to import them into maya yourself and use the hypershade to tweak things like colours while looking at the daz surfaces tab to replicate the look. With enough effort it would be possible to make a plugin that does a good ready to render Arnold material setup automatically. Kind of a rip off that none of the Maya plugins do that.

it took me a while to just suck it up and learn it but if you want clothing to get auto-fit nice, you MUST model it on a base gen8 figure then apply it to your character after.

You can re sim clothing for new poses on custom morphs, but its never gonna conform properly

so heres what i started doing
for simple stuff, on a character with large proportions and major morphs (giant tits and curves) i do the pose first, export to MD then just re sim my saved piece of clothing onto that.
I say simple stuff because of course im not going into zbrush to touch up finer details on every pose change
But all your texturing can be kept from the original clothing model as long as you have kept the UVs the same from MD.

The more universal solution is to figure out what clothing your gonna make, then export a gen8base female, create it on her, take it all the way through your sculpting retopo texturing etc etc then get it fitted properly on the gen8female and it should fit fine, zero stretching etc with transfer utility
save it as a clothing peice and then you can use it on your custom character

the biggest thing iv learned creating clothing lately is understanding the problem areas if my end result is wanting to be fit to a voluptuous model if you want it to work
dont go for high detail on the centre chest cleavage area, for most of my tops now i simply leave that area open, aside from looking good for cleavage anyway it simply avoids the problem area where bras or shirts often fold into themselves

Depends what you want to change?

Blender is simply not up to par with zbrush for sculpting. You can do some detailing in blender, but sculpting is still better in zbrush. You simply won't be able to reach the same fine detail with blender that you can in zbrush.

If you just want to make some small adjustments to the clothing and retopo it, blender is perfectly fine for that. I use it for my clothing.

As for the confirming it depends on the clothing piece.

One thing I have started to do, to speed up my own workflows, is create morph presets of bodies i like

so like, create a gen8female, play with all my sliders till im content then save all of those into a single slider

then its easy on a new character to do the morph changes and make sure my clothing is fitting properly as i only have 1 slider to play with

Pathtracing, which is the algorithm used by Iray, simulates light accurately. That means it absolutely adores large lights sources, such as skies or HDRIs, and absolutely despises small recessed lights, especially if those lights contributes the most to the scene.

In-door rendering is usually slower because of that. If you have such a slowdown, though, you're probably doing something wrong/not thinking it through. Small, high luminosity lights are bad. Small, high luminosity lights in a recess are worse. You can probably speedup your render by 3x by revisiting your lights, though I can understand that it is frustrating. I honestly just randomly slapped it all together after posing a different scene. The eyelashes is probably winged eyeliner you are seeing. I should probably put better shaders on the clothes if I use them again. Also I did use dforce on the clothes but they kept clipping through on the nipples so I was playing with the gravity a bunch. The face has been morphed to shit by me autistically over and over so I should probably just start over with it.

Is it just me or the ram usage changed deeply since 4.12?

In 4.12 I've found most of my scenes use far less VRAM, and far more RAM. By a x2 factor at minimum. Rendering some scenes, that once had a 8 GB VRAM/8GB RAM cost, can now have 4 GB VRAM/16 GB RAM cost.

It's like they're copying the textures in RAM, performing some compression on the fly, before sending them to the GPU. Is there any patchnote about that?

Depends on HD morphs or materials. Default can be different for every character. Lighting will also make a huge difference than just throwing in some hdri like I did in the Emma image.

I need some help regarding weighting and D-force and I am confused.

So I'm just getting into trying d-force with custom stuff, so this was a pretty simple cape. Obviously I want it to fall down naturally.

When I use the transfer utility, it assigne the right most part in the pic to follow some of the arm. Initially i thought this wouldnt be a problem, because I thought the whole point of dforce was it was entirly a simulation so it wouldnt matter about the bone weighting. But, that doesn't seem to be the case.

The cape sims perfectly fine in default post with arms down, the cape drapes as expected at 30 and 60 frames. But when I pose the arms up and sim, at 30, 60 and 90 frames, it never falls beyond this and I don't understand why.
Its obviously still being restricted a bit by the arm being raised.

Can anyone point me to some good guides/tutorials on weighting in daz? The stuff I have found seems outdated and following them just simply does not work, its like there has been major UI changes since those tutorials were written or something.
