That's what amaze me most of all. Honestly, Daz3D fulfils a niche that is so big it boggles the mind it is the only real competitor in the market, and yet so complicated it is a miracle it exists at all. Many people just want to select a character, a hair, the props, an environment, and render something close to photorealistic. Yet, for all that demand, the technological issues of that are so big, and the needs for a marketplace and the right people at the right time so difficult, it seemed a pipe-dream six or seven years ago.

We now have a community of people selling all the tools, models, and scripts for quick and easy photorealistic rendering. We now have a software for people to use their libraries of objects for quick and easy photorealistic rendering. That's absurdly bizarre.

I'm an old man, living in past tech. The idea of rendering a photorealistic picture of two girls giving a titjob to a boy in a cafe in four clicks is nothing short of a miracle. Yes, it's not perfect. Yes, it's laughable. Yet, the fact that we can do it is so weird, I can't help but feel amazed.

Assuming your using iray

Get a hdri if it's an exterior scene
Use spotlights or emissive surfaces.

In render settings, check if your scene is set to render dome and scene, dome only or scene only.
Dome = hdri in this case

I can't help with what settings you may have already fucked around with, so consider starting a new file and merging in the character you want, and only the character.
Then, put in one spotlight and turn on iray preview
That should work, then start experimenting.

A good tip is go learn how to light a scene properly.

Forget about 3delight. The only reason nits still available is because some people who invested in gen2 models would cry if it wasn't. Rightfully so I suppose but anyway.

Work with iray, learn about lighting fundementals that are the same a cross the board for all 3d programs.
Daz iray lighting mainly comes from hdri, spotlights or emissive surfaces.

For render times, first check the resolution you are rendering at and also make sure you have your GPU selected.

A lot of time is gonna vary depending on how fast your PC is. Don't expect to shit out multiple 4k renders at superspeeds if you don't have a beast.

The more you add to your scene, the longer it will take to render. Conversely, less lights will make it render faster most of the time, but you need to make sure you have it lit enough to not get a noisy dark.

A good 4k/8k hdri is a great starting point. See how long a simple scene takes you and go from there.

Also understand some people's clothes/assets are added to the scene automatically subdivided much higher than you would care for, so make sure you set things to base that are not important to the scene as that can add a lot to the render time.

That's misleading. More light, as long as it is a reasonable uniform light, will make the scene renders faster. The more big lights in your scene, ideally the sun unobscured or a very big spotlights, the faster it will render. I have literally rendered a scene 4 times faster by adding a sun sky.

The issue is with smaller lights. The smaller the light, the more receded or hidden in a small corner, the longer the render will take. Halos, glowing pieces of jewelry, light-bulb, especially emissive surface light-bulb hidden away, can have a 10x effect on render time.

It all goes back to the pathtracing algorithm, which really likes HDRIs and skies, but really hates pointlights.

The daztomaya plugin has been surprisingly easy to import models. Has quite a few downsides though.
Facial expressions still need shapekeys etc which is a ball ache and a half.
Extra anatomies/hair don't play nice. See pic
BUT it means easier animation vs the hell that is DAZ and importing it to unreal for rendering animations cuts down on rendering times.
Just gotta figure out materials for it to look good in unreal

What? Daz don't have IK? lol wth I created my first IK system the 2nd week I had unity using nothing but highschool trig, it's not something difficult to implement.

Tho I have to say the standard IK solvers used by animation software are a very strange choice the task.
They're seemingly using algorithms suitable to orient a joint to a target using fixed distances much like in real world robotics.
If you instead just give the legs just a tiny amount of stretch that will be invisible to the audience you can trivially make an IK system
that have non of that annoying 'pop' as the leg goes fully extended and the speed of the IK chain goes to infinity.
It also becomes trivial to let the joint hyper extend and lock backward just like real knees.

You can learn the basics under a day then be shitting out useable clothes super fast once you understand how sewing real clothes work, as it's all pretty straight forward then sim it an export. You can even texture in there, but you want get that quality you can get from SP.

Is it the parts of the clothing confirming too much? Sickleyeild has a video tutorial specifically on making certain parts of clothing static, like a belt buckle or buttons for example, so they don't deform. I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for?

So I played around with the face transfer plugin, the free one at least. It's actually pretty impressive, here's a few things tho.

>Important to get a picture if you can with the mouth closed, or else it will texture the teeth onto the lips sometimes.
>It does only diffuse maps, which is a bit annoying. I played around with with micheal 8's normal maps instead but I wasn't happy with the result

I love MagicPoser on Android. I mostly used Daz to create references with lighting information for making 2D illustrations but now I find myself just using MagicPoser because it's so much easier to pose the figures.

I never bothered rendering hair and clothing anyway and usually just used primitives with a a grid plugged into the diffuse to stand in for props anyway. I am trying to find a solution to a problem I am having and have narrowed it down to my almost 7gb morphs folder. The problem is that loading or zeroing a pose on a genesis 8 female causes the program to freeze up for about 2-3 minutes. I am trying to figure out a solution or system for weeding out shit I dont want or need.

If I remove all the morphs and just leave the basic stuff you get from the starter pack it will load quickly. So I removed large sections of morph folders and loading a figure each time hoping to narrow down the problem but it didn't seem to help me find the exact folder causing the issue so I'm starting to think I just have too many. Any suggestions are welcomed.

I think it would be very difficult to use daz for this without a lot of extra steps. The skin textures would have to be created/modified manually to have the extra shadows and stylized contours. The hairs would have to be solid objects and not strand based like you normally see in daz. And you would need tons of morphs for muscles/limbs and good knowledge of anatomy to be able to make them look like that without them being complete abominations. Normal skin shaders without reflection should work fine. For the hair you would probably want to use matte plastic style shaders. I'm just a gay daz coomer so take what I say with that in mind.

How can a bonafide retarded beginner like me make a monster mouth for GF3? How can I make an alt GF3 model that’s ‘read’ like GF3 and retains GF3 rigging? (Like Silent Sally?)

Step 1) Import GF3 into program X
Step 2) Model tummy mouth in X
Step 3) Bake and export(?)
Step 4) Open in zbrush and make custom morph for opening/closing, a la the millions of tutorials on how to do so
