I gotta say using blender2.80 for quick morphs or fixing clothes works better than I expected.
Also, not sure if it's just me but it feels like the sculpting tools work WAY better than in 2.79. in the old version you had to fiddle around with brush settings a ton before it was kinda usable.

>> No.676591

In DAZ, yes... But my experimentation with DAZ models in blender made it pretty easy to use a separate mesh/material for the eyebrows. Just duplicate the eyebrow region of the model into a separate object, add a shrink wrap modifier to it, set the modifier to 1mm outside of the head's mesh, and use the same transparency style material as the eyelashes. You can also fake the translucency by adding a tiny tint (like 0.25) to the specular reflections... Or just straight up use transparency. I've found it looks better because it doesn't effect and isn't effected by the skins SSS, has its own bump, and stands out from the mesh slightly when viewed at angles.

You add like 20 quads to the model, but whats 20 quads on a model with 17k as a base?

DAZ itself doesn't have this separation. Every diffuse map I've seen for it has had the eyebrows built into them. Why would they do that if they were just going to use an entirely separate shader for the eyebrows? Yes, masking in a spererate shader would work, but you run into issues with bump maps having to align.

this is so damn good. before that I always had to use dforms to make clothing work the way I wanted and it sometimes turned into an absolute mess before I got where I wanted. back then making, importing and exporting morphs usually either ended in "no deltas" error messages or models that disintegrated into a cloud of triangles.

Get a better GPU. Iray is nvidia's brain fart... I mean, brain child. CPU performance is nearly irrelevant to it. I haven't delved deeply into it as I opted not to use Iray as soon as I figured out that it was GPU rendering only; however, there also doesn't appear to be much in the way of "render optimizations" in DAZ's surface level UI. All I've managed to find is subdivide levels and toggles for SSS, and alike. I'm sure you could fug wit bounces and sheet somewhere, but I'm not wasting my time looking up those settings for you... Just get a better GPU if you want to use DAZ as your rendering program.

>> No.677140

There is a setting in DAZ for how to fit an object to the model. I'm to lazy to look for its name, but you want to use the one that isn't default. I haven't got much experience with DAZ yet, but what I do know is that its exporter for .dae doesn't like the default setting for fitting. It produces issues that look exactly like that on models I've morphed and tried to export. It's something like "Auto Fit to Transform." It wont look any different in DAZ after you make the switch, but the exported file wont be all messed up.

You might be doing something else completely wrong though. I've never done any zbrush remodelling. Just exporting DAZ store assets and models for use in blender.

At 2 GB of memory.

2 GB of memory is a single character. Two if you use memory optimizer aggressively, which you should.

Content creators for Daz3d.com work 8 hour days on their releases, female stuff sells better than men's. All according to sickleyield
Average Joe users just pose waifus with basic renders, minimal light setup or just prepackaged from other content creator's goods.
Smut peddlers probably make the most money. You cater to a niche fetish and even if your end product is generally awful, crudely done and eye destroying, you'll still make good money. source: my ass, but look at those patreon shekel sites.
Daz is highly considered the scum or least effort retards of the general 3d community, its mostly thanks to the middle users and the users nobody talks about, like the emma poser above me and.
That's not to say that people more capable in other 3D tools arent also putting out garbage, it's just easier to do that with daz.

fbx goes into Blender fine. You just have to reset the bone rotations in pose mode.
You can use this bone script to get the bones looking nicer.
https://smutba.se/project/64/

You can get the DAZ Importer for better imports too.
http://diffeomorphic.blogspot.com/p/daz-importer-version-13.html

The bad thing is the joint control morphs don't get transfered and you can only export base resolution. So some bends will look terrible.

If you want things looking as good as in Daz in an external program you will will need Maya and "Genesis 8 for Maya" plugin script. Or if you know programming you could always try reverse engineering a the script to import JCMs to blender. Or you could manually set up JCMs in blender.

The biggest limitation will depend on where the asset was ripped from. Modern games should be fine with their higher res textures but you can really see the age with older stuff like zero suit samus. Is there a way to make Studio fucking STOP refreshing every fucking smoothing modifier on every part in the scene when something gets manipulated that isn't related in any way to the thing that gets refreshed?

For some reason sometimes it works, for example one character has smoothing applied on the top and while the other character gets moved around, the smoothing doesn't get refreshed. In other cases literally EVERYTHING gets refreshed just when one object in the scene that doesn't even have any modifier on gets moved.

I did with Dicktator and Golden Palace.
I merge them (without shells) to the body before exporting in fbx.
Geoshells I export in .dae, then delete unnecessary vertices and apply Data Transfer modifier to transfer weights from the body. If I want morphs - I export multiple geoshells in different states and join them onto default one as blendshapes.

>This tutorial series is designed to help 3D artists speed up their character workflow using Daz 3d. This is a unique workflow aimed at speed and high-quality work for artists. It was made to answer questions asked by professional concept artists who use Daz Studio daily. Many of these tools are only understood by published artists who have spent years learning the ins and outs of Daz studio, but with this tutorial, you will get up to speed on some advanced tips and tricks that will revolutionize your character workflow.

>In Part Two we go over combining morphs to speed up your character creation process, using morph loader pro to bring in custom characters, and some morph loader pro settings that can make customization a breeze. We will also go over the full pipeline for saving morphs and correcting shapes so they move correctly.

>If you start your character creation process using a Daz Genesis base mesh you can have a fully rigged character in a few clicks. The characters will be compatible with skin textures, clothing, poses, props, hair and so on. You can iterate quickly on the characters and try different options and also use any Daz characters in your library to give you a faster starting point. Once you know a few tricks you can make a custom character faster than you ever thought possible.

>Learn how to speed up your character creation process today using Daz Studio.

no, the actual welding takes place inside Studio. inside your modeler you just take care that the vertices match exactly where you later weld on.

basically, you define the spots in the mesh you want to have your shit welded in. then you make your stuff on those designated patches (the outer vertices _MUST_ match up with the mesh you want it to weld on). when you're done, you import your item into Studio, mark the outer rings of the place you want it to weld in, tell studio that's the place to weld on and also to hide the mesh underneath when the item gets applied.
sounds like a bit much but it's actually easy.
