OP is correct. Just lately the major trackers have all been hosting significant amounts of wares that contain all sorts of nasty shit. CGpeers had a bad version of Max2019 just recently which caught loads of people out (not me, fortunately) and this got taken down, but there's still some stuff up there which has been proven to carry malware;

There's a version of FumeFX on there still which caught me out, it syphoned off all sorts of my info and I was inundated with all sorts of attacks on my Steam account, email addresses, my Origin account - and they were accessing all of it with the correct passwords.

I'm also slightly paranoid about the version of VRay I've got right now - every time I open Max since I installed it, a weird little window momentarily appears then vanishes immediately. Malwarebytes doesn't find anything but I'm not convinced it's clean.

But yeah, the days of GFXpeers and CGpeers having reliable quality control seem to be over, and bad actors are taking advantage of the whole 'you're gonna need to disable your anti-virus and ignore any warnings' mentality of using cracked software. It was only a matter of time really.

But, yeah - OP is not a shill. This is how things are now; increasingly risky.

why wouldn't you just use the student version of maya?

Max, but yeah - fair point. I guess that's what I'll be doing when I decide to upgrade from 2018. Torrents are becoming way too dicey these days.

the implication was that you should switch to maya, anon

Curious
Which version was that? Do you remember the torrent you got this nasty from? I'm asking because I've been looking for fumefx too some time ago

Tell you what I'll *consider* using Maya when, to make a simple circular extrusion along a curve, like for a cable or something - you don't have to set up a fucking NURBS sweep operation with a separate fucking profile curve.

Just got a houdini 6.5 crack from there a week or two ago. This week i've had my computer just lose power twice.
Think they might be connected?

Your computer lost power, so, obviously, the circuit was open at some point. Duh.

Open your case and check the connections or replace the power supply unit before you destroy the motherboard and components
