They recently removed the add-on that displayed keypresses in Blender. There's talk on the dev list about it, but the consensus seems to be that it's gone for good.

Maybe the guys working on the viewport project will do something about it.

You'll probably have to use a screencasting key display. That shouldn't be hard to find.

not that guy, but you could achieve this with a deformer that is moved to the wall. Set the weight to zero so it isn't in effect, then animate it to 1. Turn the mesh into a soft body. the shading looks like the mesh is duplicated with inverted normals and a flat surface shader.

It's not metaballs at all but it's meant to look like it.
This is a sort of pill shaped mesh with world parented joints. Each joint has a spring constraint within Unity and a script that aims the joint at the next one in the chain so they don't flip over.

Then I just gave the last joint in the chain a kick towards the wall and gave it a garbage script that froze it in place on collision. The plan was to have a proper way of binding it to vertices so if someone got "slimed" in the face it'd fall across and it stick appropriately.
