im pretty high, i think you have to do the vertical liines > twist > add more horizontal lines

i mean vertical not horizonttal

Make a single piece of the pattern, then duplicate special until you have a grid of them, merge all the verts at once and then Deformer>NonLinear>Bend so it wraps into a cyilinder, and merge the seam to make it closed.

hope your paying too much buddy

learning a new 3d/art technique should take a few hours, you should be learning something new each day,

making something as simple as google search for an assignment is a low bar

I added a bunch of loop cuts to a cylinder, added a twist/rotation modifier and a triangulate modifier, applied them and deleted the loop cuts I made before and then filled. Extruded the individual faces and scaled individual faces.

Maybe thats a horrible complicated way to do it but I am not an expert.

I am depressed, I feel like shit.

Use the poke faces tool. It's alt+p in blender I think. Then press f6 and tweak the offset.

If you are smart or need it more often do it procedural.
I don't know how to do it for blender-fags or such but in Cinema 4D you have Xpresso, a node-based "programming" where you can calculate stuff and work with user data.

I didn't made it procedural yet but it would just be a little bit of math and stuff to do so.

1. Model a small fragment. Add a curve deformer to bend the left and right side.

2. put your object in a cloner.

3. Put the cloner in a cloner and give it a stepping of, in this case 360°/25/2= 7.2°

4. add another cloning object for the upper and lower end. I just did a cylinder with matching divisons here (because I'm a lazy fag)

Like this, build it flat and just roll it up.

This is also a general solution for any arbitrarily complicated geometry that sits on a curved surface. Here's an old tut I made for /3/ once.

In fact use space warps of various kind whenever you have geo that has difficult or exact curvature with structure on top.
Here's using a lattice/FFD to make a spartan shield have a smooth parabolic curvature after building it flat.
