If you don't understand or notice the difference between blender and other professional suites then it doesn't matter, If you do then it does. The most basic reasons I dislike blender are its somewhat fragmented feel and the fact that people use it as a crutch, just as the OP has in this post.

Blender is capable of producing great stuff. Just as Pixar's old point-by-point modeling system produced great stuff. But the fact of the matter still remains that it takes LONGER to do good shit in Blender because it's toolset is so archaic and slow. It's like trying to use a spoon to sculpt a baroque statue even though there's a whole toolset of specialized utilities to make the job easier and faster.

I decided to stop using Blender because no one in the industry gives a shit about it and clogging up my brain with useless shortcuts and menus will do me no good, even more so when that fucking homo at the CG Cookie site wants Blender devs to change pretty much everything to meet his needs, the fucker wants to make it more user friendly like C4D, why doesn't he just switches software? > clogging up my brain with useless shortcuts and menus will do me no good

If you want to be become a supposed pro you should learn shortcuts in all the softwares you are going to use.

How sad is that people still try to use the suffix artist when all they want is working for a supposed industry, modelling weapons, shitty super-heroes etc.

Maybe we blabber about the industry because we have jobs there? Most 3D packages can achieve pretty much the same thing sure (some faster than other) but there are guidelines and workflows we should follow and bringing Blender, or any other software for that matter, in an environment when it is not needed or required will slow processes down. If you want to use X software on personal projects go right ahead.

well it's a "service agreement" not really a subscription, which has the downside that to get into it you still have to pony up the 3.5k for the license but then it's 650 a year to stay current, the upside of that is that unlike true subscription shit if you let the msa lapse your tools don't suddenly stop working, so it's a trade off, i like that i still have a perpetual license of whatever i have regardless of if i re-up or not next time. i think it's better to go legit, when you pirate it's too easy to just switch programs and try every new hype that some viral market or fanboy talks up, but once you commit to one or two packages you're just like
"ok this is what i use" and spend you time learning it instead of looking over at what the next guy is using.

Ok man you need to know two important facts.
The industry care about those things, because the industry USE your assets and force you yo use standardized softwares.

Then we have ILLUSTRATORS, those people don't work for the industry, and use any kind of softwares they like without nobody giving a shit and basically create cool looking stuff for a client or themselves.
People should learn this in /3/ so this industry nonsense can end.

blender is great but it doesent let me manipulate uvs for various objects at the same time, so when im doing enviroment modeling it is basicly impossible for me to guess where the uvs of various objects go in 1 map, so i use a bilboard and a marker to draw where i think they go.
end of the story it adds 4 days of work or in some cases uvs cant be done at all.
