When scaling from one end of the transpose tool, it only scales the object a very small amount each time, and if i go past the other end of the tool, it starts getting bigger again.

How to change it?

zBrush right?

Two things you can do.
Change your transpose line; the orange circles that appear when you click on scale. Just click and drag.

The other way is to go to to the tools/transform menu (I have mine on the right hand side, so I'm not sure how yours is) and go to deformation.
Should be a size slider and just drag it or click on the word itself and put in the percent change you want.

First time using transpose? >>425315 got it right. When that happens try to keep the line the shorter you can mate. Nice model btw
