I made this face almost entirely in blender. Could /3/ critique it?

>> No.400981

its pure shit, even realtime nvidia human head demo looks miles better, and that runs at 180fps

Post references
Render from more angles
Fix eyes
they are too flat on the top and too curved on the bottom.

>> No.400984

OK, so now i get to try and return the favor that /3/ did for me. The details on the model look really good as well as the texture, but the overall anatomy of the head is off, can we also get an angled render on the head.

>>400980
Was it supposed to be realistic ?
If yes, then it looks like some weird fucked up caricature,
Are major landmarks are there, but in wrong places and in wrong shape.

how about the sss shader is that okay?

>>401030
the noise is because I put it at a relativity low sample count when rendering, something like 300 samples.

>> No.401190

It's a good model, but you already knew that. Don't come to this board looking for critique or positive feedback everyone here is a skilless d bag. The weakest part of your image is the sss on the right ear. Makes the whole thing look fake. Should be easily fixable from within photoshop.

add some more occlusion and a reflective highlight on that ear and this will look great

OP, just add the speculars around the eye, lips and nose. Skin is a little more reflective, just a little bit.

Also, define that beard, make all those black dots tiny verticalish lines.

seriously, it's not a good model. Textures look good. There are modeling mistakes all over the place. A real nose is not shaped like that. The mouth is weird, lower lip is too sharp. There is too much distance between the Eyes. Too much distance between nose and bottom chin. The neck should be more straight, a real one is not attached like that. There is something wrong with the relation between cheekbones and the jaw, the latter being probably too wide near the ears. The upper part of an ear should not be shaped like a tube.

It appears OP didn't use references. If he did, he used them in a wrong way.
Textures are fine but the overall proportions are wrong and this basically fails the uncanny valley test.

I can't say it's shit, it's not shit. But the model could and should be better

Kinda has a "Brink"-ish feel to it, I like it a lot!

>> No.401297

>>401295
My critic was on spot. I'll tell you why.
It can be safely assumed that OP was going for realism.
First, because he used photographs as textures. Second, because his modeling errors do not produce an appealing, stylized look, but rather just a semi-realistic model that unfortunately looks wrong, as any person with enough knowledge of anatomy or drawing experience in portraits can confirm.
I do not plan to kill myself, instead I think I can make this board a better place by giving good advice. The model needs improvement, this much is evident.

well shit, I didn't expect that much critiques while I fixed a few things. Thanks for the constructive criticism guys. As you can tell I am new to this board, mostly spend time on /gif/. Anyway here are a few updates. fixed the eyes and ears. I am looking into the nose, neck and lips now.

Is the lack of uniformity on the space between the eyes and eyebrows on purpose?
It's a bit too much.

could restyle it a thousand ways of course to fit the kind of character you're after but I think working in some realistic bone structure and asymmetry is crucial to make it look more convincing.
I liquified a cranium and made it the general shape of your head, then liquified the head and reworked it over the matching cranium to arrive at this result.

First of all, stop doing those god awful renders, post the shaded version
Second get yourself a reference pic and try to match it, dont just make up anatomy

Then we can start fixing it, thres way too much problems a simple paint over can show you
