Look at this shit !
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZyB30-xZFs

It would be better to simply model it all in 3D rather then playing with the 2D cancer.

As a traditional artist getting into blender I’m finding a lot of uses for it, but it doesn’t seem to have many modeling applications and it does seem like more trouble than it’s worth to so what the guy did in that pic. I still wish there were more videos on workflows to create things like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0r7GdC5Bu0

I’d really like to see how things like these work, but for now I’m happy just messing around.

Tell me more.

Blender has new crap that the community sucks their own dicks over and then they quickly forget about it because it is garbage.

Case in point.
Dynotopo.
Literally everyone got their dick wet over this crap, it is unusable garbage and after blender got the voxal remesher everyone pretends dynotopo does not exist. Because outside a handful of artistic uses dynotopo is useless garbage.

I was excited for the sculpting in Grease Pencil to basically do 2D only traces of pictures. Yet it is still garbage.

My point is that he is retarded how taking that many steps to basically create a cube. You can do it faster and better if you do that in 3D.

Are you on crack? I still use dynotopo regularly and HATE voxel remesher because it deteriorates the shape due to the simplicity of the algorithm unless I crank up the resolution like crazy.

>> No.914318

>>914317
No one uses that anymore. Proof find any tutorial in modeling in 2022 that uses dynotopo. Literally no one uses that because it lags hard.

This is what you are supposed to do.

It is so much simpler to simply use a ARAY or mirror for this.

The same thing I made in 3D

What settings are you using? Also how are you using it? It's not supposed to be used for topology it's supposed to be used for getting the shape you want first and then thinking about the topology later.

HUH ?

If you try to pull out like a tentacle, realistic tentacle then it will lag.

HUH ?
Use sub surf for that.

Normally I would, but I’m actually discovering a lot of stuff that is undocumented so I’m planning on doing a video series on it once I’ve finished a couple animations. Basically, if you are a traditional animator, it has a lot of functions that can take hours of work and turn it into minutes. I’ve used a lot of industry standard 2d animation softwares, and blender has stuff I’ve been wanting for years. Only TVP beats it out, but TVP doesn’t have some of the stuff I’ve discovered with Blender that lightens the work load considerably.

Now it definitely has its weak points. The drawing tools feel very similar to Flash’s (ie: the lines are never exactly what you drew) and panning the camera can create quite a few issues with your drawings when it’s an extremely simple thing in other drawing softwares, but so far those are the only snags I have found.

But again, I agree that the workflow in that video seems a bit asinine. Perhaps it has a place, but I wonder if it was more to get people used to drawing in space or something. There are better ways to do what he’s doing as well, but I’m thinking he’s just wanting to show off the tool rather than show a practical method of making things.

I modeled the same thing he did and using arrays and mirrors made it faster.

I rather the grease pencil not be shit. For example it whould be great for tracing. I especially like the sculpting the line.

Only it is cancer because there is no way to add more to a already stretched geometry or blender fucks it up.

>> No.914405

>>914404
I don’t think I use it the same way you do, so I must not have come across those issues. Like I said, I mostly use it for drawing/animating, and adding textures to 3d objects. For my purposes it’s pretty nice, but like I said, could “feel” better in terms of actually drawing the lines, but then, only TVP has what feels like natural drawing.

I’m a bit confused about what you mean when you say tracing? Could you go into that a bit? Do you mean you’re trying to trace atop a 3d models?

Na I wanted to trace 2D pictures because the sculpting sounded as a cool idea.

Basically a cool and fast way to trace 2D pictures. Pic related.

I really see no need for it in 3D excluding some decorations etc. Its all about the rigs and the models.

Ah, I think I got it, so you were trying to trace over pictures then use the sculpting tools to get the lines to match it better.

I think Adobe Illustrator might be more what you’re looking for (or even Krita), but yeah, Blenders drawing tools are a tad lackluster unless you are taking full advantage of the software. Good for my purposes, and as a traditional animation software it’s surprisingly strong, but for general drawing and line work there are better alternatives.

Thanks for the recommendation. I never liked Bézier curve. And the sculpting looked like a novel idea only this draw mode literally has nothing like a voxel remasher to simply add more geometry so the sculpting is limited and then the lines get fucked up.

DESU looks like another feature of blender everyone was getting hyped over and sucking blenders dick and now it will be forgotten by everyone.

This is a simple 3D model the eyes are painted on not sure if the nose is modeled or not.

>Like this
God low poly modeling is super hard. You want low poly yes ?

>Like this
Cheep trick. Take that model and then modify it to get a different character, you notices everyone in these old games looks like a clone of the same body type.
