Adobe Photoshop
Substance Designer
Substance Painter
XNormal

There's alot more, but if you'd like a meaningful career in the games and film industry your better off starting now.

For those who don't know, If you don't like subscription then buy the licensees from steam as they last forever.

I do apologize for my lack of activity lately, I will post more in the following weeks.

If you want an easy way to get into the industry then begin learning those programs and put your skill to work in places like the Team Fortress 2 Workshop, Rust Workshop, Counterstrike Go Workshop, Fallout 4 Modding Community & Second Life.

They will all make you money if you get items accepted, funding your passion with exception to FO4 as i believe they no longer accept applicants.

I'm glad you asked, It runs VIA steam and you get a year worth of updates before they stop supporting it but the product will keep running for you past let's say 2021 to infinite but you won't be able to update it to 2022.

Autodesk Inventor is another program you'll want to master as it allows you to create objects fast that are real world accurate.

That's the discord invite.

If people want a stepping stone then try the TF2 Emporium they seem to know what they are talking about and the majority of the people in it work in the industry because of the TF2 workshop.

Unreal Engine
Zbrush

...you should define this before you gab out nonsense about some programms!

It's expected that you know theses programs when going for an interview, you'll be expected to show off your skills in a time interview in which you create something from scratch.

Often there will be a theme involved, but it's to test you that you know this stuff and can work speedly on it.

>> No.787219

All that matters is your portfolio, your understanding of concepts that are platform agnostic, and your speed.
Large studios use mostly their own in-house software.

Majority of the time that's just an engine level thing.

Whats the actual purpose of SD? From what I understand, it serves to create advanced procedural shaders, that also involve geometry, but what do you do with those?

>> No.787238

a bit unrelated but is it worth learning Altair Inspire Studio?

>> No.787239

>>787237
You apply them to mapped geometry. SD materials can factor in mesh properties like curvature for example, and use those to drive the look of the texture. They can be a great time saver because of this, but usually SD materials are further polished in painting software like SP.

Thank you anon, if you see this. They just stopped selling it on Steam right after I purchased it. Thank you.
