Most files in the source are copyrighted to the Foundation, so it isn't even necessary to track contributors. Autodesk layers would most certainly solve any hurdle of this kind in less time than takes Blender to crash on undo.

For every other piece of code that might be difficult to relicense, rewriting it should be enough. Think of how quickly Pixologic built a better cloth brush; Autodesk is magnitudes bigger, so they could do even more if needed.

The truth is that Blender continues to exist only because Autodesk allows it.

Autodesk could buy Blender and own the code (presuming Blender doesn't use other external GPL libraries in its codebase), allowing them to close source future work, but everyone who already licensed Blender under GPL (read: ever current Blender user) has the right to see, use, and modify the existing Blender code forever. You can't just revoke a license because you feel like it unless the licensing terms allow it (which GPL obviously doesn't). That's the opposite of how licensing works.

Google can not close source Android, but they can close source their services Android uses.
Likewise Autodesk could just take Blender, create their own fork of it (which would still have to remain GPL) and they'd need to publish the code changes they did. They could at the same time publish closed source plugins for Blender and sell them.

You do realize that all android phones have their core OS entirely open source right? It's why cyanogenmod (now lineageOS) gets ported to all sorts of phones without any help from the manufacturer except for the occasional threat of GPL enforcement for companies that try to skirt the GPL.

The only thing that's closed source are the Gapps, which aren't even part of the OS. Chinese phones (a huge market you are ignoring) don't even come with them because they don't work properly in China.
