I might be in the minority here ,but i think short form one minute lazy tutorials are really garbage, youre just telling people to do this ,this and that without going into why,and you might say if you know something about the software you dont need long form tutorials ,but it still packs necessary information to expand your knowledge about the stuff youre making

Solution? Alternative?

you figure the "why" out yourself when you do it

and the "why" is usually because that's the way it's done.

That was andrew kramer in the pic ,his tutorials are really informative and going in detail of the tools youre using

There is place for both types of tutorials and neither have to be "garbage".

I watch dozens of hours long CGMA tutorials when I'm learning something specific.

I watch Ian Hubert's minute long tutorials to learn about interesting ways of doing certain things. It's inspiring and pushes me to think differently.

I honestly wish I could find more tutorials in the form of screenshots and text, so I can scroll though and find what I need easily. But everyone seems to insist on capturing 20 minute videos and giving a bunch of commentary. I get it, they want ad revenue.

And then you get moron artists who call for help every half an hour cuz their scene "broke".

That's because you're literate. There used to be a lot of useful written tutorials but now searching for tutorials gives you only videos, and for new software and techniques only videos are made. It's a shame, but the ipad generation is totally illiterate. That is not a joke, they literally can't read or write beyond whats needed to post on twitter.

long form tutorials usually don't have more information than about 3-5 minutes worth. It's just stretched over a long period of time for ad money, and out of laziness.

Based. Reading through how to do something and looking at screens is much quicker than waiting for someone to go through the process on vid.

Are you fucking serious ?,How the fuck are long tutorials made out of laziness ?,holy shit, have you ever seen one? they go in depth with the tools youre using and explain the why rather than barraging us with information ,you will obviously get lot more out of a long tutorial rather than lazy one and not only you will be able to make thing that the tutorial was supposed to teach ,it will also help you make other things with the indepth information you have of those tools
