They used some base meshes (because they always do) and they're only mathematically children (that is they're adult meshes transformed down to child dimensions) which is why all the detail shit used for an adult appears (often in a weird way) on these "child" models

How did you get the clothing physics right? I've been using IK modifiers on the existing armature to track a bunch of empty groups on a a mesh of vertices with a cloth physics modifier on it and placed some tiny planes on it so it'd collide with the body, but I can't seem to get it right. Sometimes the legs will clip through them and when I try to add more planes the skirt will just start crumpling.
