My pleasure, these hairplugs ain't payin' for themselves.
If you're looking for contemporary scenes to stick your characters in, over at Renderosity TruForm and greenpots have their sets up to half off until Thursday and Saturday respectively. Dorms, banks, fast food restaurants, bars, libraries, tv studios, universities, home living, furnished classrooms, motels, stadiums, the whole megillah and many with exteriors. TruForm's store only goes on sale about once a year so you wanna catch this while it's there. The rest of the year, just go to his InliteStudios site where he charges less than at Rendo.
greenpots: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?uid=13225
TruForm: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?uid=641216 and http://inlitestudio.com/3d where you can find decent freebies (with no commercial use restrictions except that stupid Star Wars beach ball robot).

And before I go, let me remind you of the unusual props at https://poserworld.com most of which are only $2.99, and many of which aren't available elsewhere. Nearly all now come in both Poser/DS and FBX formats. The best categories at PW are Mechanical, Medical & Science, Sports & Hobby, Trees & Plants, Food, and Weapons & Military. Clothing's okay if you don't mind it being for legacy figures. Quite a bit of period props from the late 60s/early 70s.
Now, Poserworld had a bum reputation in the past as a subscription service, but they've done away with that and you can't beat their prices. Free 3D download sites like, well, free3d have a number of similar items but their quality is pretty questionable especially in the textures department. Risk three bucks on a prop and see what you think. And that's all for me until the next thread, kids!

Any help?

>> No.634620

>>634616
>it's hard to see what's off for me
There's quite a bit.
Let's start with the eyes. First off, they're too far apart. But rather than drag them in closer, you need to adjust the inner eye length, namely the lacrimals. Then adjust distance from there. For easier referencing, use the visible sclera on either side of the eyes. In your reference image, note how Emma has more inner sclera visible than outer sclera. In your recreation, that ratio is inversed; she has more outer sclera visible than inner sclera. You can also use iris position as reference. Using that, your irises are pointed more inwards, while your reference is pointed more outwards. Lastly, your eyes are still a bit too high.
Next is the nose. From what I know about Daz morphs, it's gonna be pretty hard to recreate her type of nose. You have the bridge to bulb width ratio about there, but it's her weird composition of nostril wings that I think you'll have a hard time recreating. In your reference, the wing height is noticeably higher and its shape isn't very round.
Moving onto her mouth, your lip thicknesses are almost there. The upper lip should be thinner, once again going off your posted reference. The lower lip needs more outer curvature to create a more V-like shape. Width is almost there, although I think it needs to be thinner.
As for facial structure, cheekbones are too wide, chin needs to be more square. Her face is also too round, your reference has more of a V-shaped face.
If you have ear morphs, they'll need to be wider with a little curvature to create a kinda "kidney" look, if that makes sense.
Other stuff: make sure you have your camera/viewport set to a similar focal length as your references. Typically portraits are composed anywhere from 85-100++mm. Focal length can seriously mess up facial perception.

I honestly would love to know if this kind of autistic write up helps anyone, except the autist's sense of self-importance.

How about you just ignore everything this faggot said and go by intuition. Train your own eye to spot the differences and what you need to change. Devise measurements in photoshop or something; draw lines on the faces and compare and contrast proportions. Train yourself to become self-sufficient so you don't have to placate autists like this guy who just wait for an opportunity to "showcase" their non-existant skillset. And that's actual helpful advice.

It's one thing to inquire about technical questions, nobody should have a problem with that, but you inquired about an artistic question, which, unless you're working on a group project, is something you should never take advice from other people regarding, in my opinion. Your personal work should remain personal, and you're probably selling yourself short by relying on artistic advice from others, especially some fucking autist who wouldn't know artistry if it poked his eyes out.

Hey man, I was just trying to help. He did ask for some and I did my best to respond. Plus, I did give him tips on how to gauge these kinds of things in the future. And seriously, "never take advice on artistic things"? Why don't you go into the /wip/ thread and scream at everyone to fuck off then?
You have to realise that art is built off technique. No matter how subjective art can be, at the end of the day there's always something objective about it. The way you manipulate colour, composition, framing, texture, all these key elements of art. There's always something technical you can comment about art, and I'm fairly sure I did. If I was complaining that her skin colour or hair colour was off, then yeah, that's a bit more subjective, but it's a face he's recreating for fuck's sake. There's no artistic agency in imitation. You only have that in innovation.
And c'mon, I make a self-deprecating jab at myself and you take it that I'm genuinely an autist? Jeez, man, I'm just someone who likes to observe and loves to type.

>>634628
I can see the similarities to specific features, but now it's unfortunately lost all proportion. Emma's face to the rest of her head is pretty small, but you're currently attempting to maximise all available space. You need to shrink everything down, in a sense. So that other anon won't stop bitching about me, use his method and try drawing lines from areas like her mouth to her eyes. Compare their relative lengths in your reference to what you're working on, and adjust from there.

No man you really helped. Don't worry about the anon's bitching. I do see what you are talking about about maximizing the face space. It is a problem I do have too often. When reimporting the skindentation morph it became an all in one morph that had V6, breast shape and the modifications done to it.
I guess that means any modifications done need to be done to the base mesh and just hope it looks good after other morphs are applied? That kinda stinks.

Currently, the eyes still doesn't look right though, I think the eyes still need to be bigger and brighter so to speak, just think of her as someone who has big eyes but is constantly squinting a little bit for some reason. Don't forget about her eyebrows.

Unless you have utterly shit photos it works every time. Minor tweaks at most. Textures obviously need to be improved because they aren't high enough from facegen usually. But with a good renderer and good spec/normals/etc they still look good.

I ended up following advise posted earlier as well as info from https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/105476/hdri-environment-maps-image-zoom
Looks like you just need to set the camera with HDR rendering the "frame" you want. Then rotate/scale/move your character to the appropriate area. Also adjusting focal length of the camera.

How the FUCK do I achieve a nice dForce simulation with clothes stretching nicely around the body with stretch creases around it?
All information I can find about dForce is about fucking POTATO SACK PHYSICS. It seems like everyone just uses it for loose as fuck clothes with only gravity pulling on it and nothing else.

I want there to be a lot more horizontal force than vertical pulling but all I get is either the clothes getting pulled to the body so much it looks like a second skin or it goes nicely AND THEN gets pulled down again like a potato bag.
I just fucking want it to not be loose as shit and with some nice stretch folds, is that too much to ask.

>> No.636186

>>636184
>is that too much to ask.
Yes...

I don't know much about dforce, but, if it is just a cloth sim, it might not do stretching all that well. And what you are asking for takes professional clothing designers years to learn. You aren't going to make well fitting cloths by just subdividing a couple planes and stitching them together. They have to be contoured correctly and designed specifically for each body types.

Most people who do tutorials for cgi programs aren't professional clothing designers (and only a handful of people who work in the 3d industry are actually trained in that discipline). You'd be hard pressed to find someone with the knowledge that you're looking for who isn't making money off the fact that they are the only person who knows it.

Can anyone tell me where the folder of the Surfaces/Presets tab is and which files belong in there?

My installation is literally over a decade old and I think I fucked it up somewhere because unlike in the screenshot my Presets tab is empty and I get grey characters every now and then (probably trying to access a shaderfile that isn't there).

I know I can find them in the content library tab.
The thing is, in the surfaces tab under "Presets" there's nothing while I see in other people's installations all those preset shaders and materials and I wondered if this might base on the same problem why some characters won't load correctly on my system (for example only the eyes have material to them while other parts like the torso stay grey and also seem to have no shader applied to them. Texture files and all exist and load nicely when I apply a shader manually to each part and also select the texture manually afterwards). I just think the whole installation is fucked.

I suppose this is how the world looks when you still depend on your parents to buy you the things you can't steal.
This is a very small community and eventually people *will* figure out who you are, so if you plan to post a lot of renders (or perhaps earn a side income doing so on Patreon), it's wiser not to piss off vendors by posting renders with stolen assets in them.
If all you plan to do with your newfound hobby is shitpost poorly composed futa renders to anonymous imageboards for attention until you lose interest, maybe this doesn't matter to you. The real issue here is you giving a fuck about how other people spend their money as though your worldview had some objective value to it and verbally farting your disapproval of those who don't conform to it.

Yes there is.
You fucking rebuild the shader by hand.
But oh right, you actually need to know a thing or two about shaders beforehand, don't you.

Well, it seems like everything that you thought wasn't trivial was actually pretty trivial since the beginning, the real problem is only your unwillingness to put in some fucking work and learn stuff.

Been working on my own Daz-Cycles bridge, and I wholeheartedly agree. Transparency maps are super easy to use. Just do the ol' plug it into a mix factor with a transparency shader.
As for the second part, duh. It's obviously easiest to rebuild the shader by hand. And it's hilarious how many of these other "cycles importers!!" spit out some really stupidly complex material when honestly you just need the principled shader and the know-how to manipulate the maps to plug into the principled.

>not sure the authors know it exists now
Oh, no, they do. Diffeomorphic's importer is hilariously poor in terms of the materials. If I remember correctly, it's some bastardised mix of the principled _and a translucency shader_ (plus probably a lot more useless noise) for the skin material. The pre-principled materials still tend to remain hilariously complex as well, it's incredibly obvious the workflow was just constantly iterate with more nodes until it looks acceptable rather than building a proper shader tree.

so far (without any youtube help because there practically isn't any) i've been able to figure out the basics.
but i'm not satisfied
i think i can do better without it

As long as gurofag and mrsmooth don't return.
I'll take giantesses-centaurs getting blacked by futa penguins with canine dicks over that any day.

I've given reallusion a shot with their suite of tools but dont feel its in the right place yet. Doesn't help their case that their content is so shit they are basing their software around importing garbage from another uncanny valley simulator.
The realtime PBR stuff is cool but I'll wait for Blender 2.8 or just import to Unreal.
