>According to the ACM article "The Reyes image rendering architecture" from July 1987,
>frames from Luxo Jr. each took 1.5 hours of CPU time to render at a resolution of 724x434

Mr Lasseter, I don't feel so good...

What's your point?

Post your renders and times from 1987

I rendered my images back then with crayons and pencils. Depending on the project it took a couple seconds to an hour.

I still think this Luxo Jr. is a goddamn CG masterpiece, and Lasseter's early works are very much on point,
that said, my admiration for him is shaky and unstable now everyone is shitting on him,
so please say something nice about Mr. Lasseter.

I'm out of the loop, why is everyone shitting him?

In short, he got #METOOED

I have no old renders at hand but it took literally days on my A2000 to render even simplistic stuff.

Sexual harassment allegations, something about "unsolicited hugging that made everyone uncomfortable". Essentially got #MeToo'd so he's stepping down at the end of '18. They say he'll stick around as a consultant until then. Docter's going to be his replacement afaik.

Well, that obviously doesn't erase his professional and artistic accomplishments.

>unsolicited hugging that made everyone uncomfortable
Is it just me, or does this sound a bit weird? How are people certain that there was any kind of sexual motivation behind that behavior?

>> No.627360

>>627357
Ah, that's just the part he admitted and apologised for. The full allegations included him, as I quote, "grabbing, kissing, and making comments about physical attributes". It's pretty serious stuff given the whole sensitivity to inclusivity nowadays.

why don't you fuck off to /leftypol

>allegations
People having to step down on "allegations" and no solid evidence, no judgment, no sentence...

Seems a bit of a dangerous place for a society to be in.

>hurr durr quoting what the general public believes = my beliefs
Trust me, pal. I despise how sensitive social issues are in the current day and age. It's good to have decency and some level of sensitivity to these situations, but it's being pushed so much these days it's backfiring and honestly comes across as hypocritical when you try to view it objectively. It's just too bad that things are the way they are now.
>>627426
I agree. But it harps back onto my point about oversensitivity in society. Nothing we can do about it but hope that people realise they're inflating and exaggerating what amounts to basic trivial issues.

I'd prefer it if the conversation stops here. This isn't the right thread nor board for this. Sorry all.
