It wasn't just 3D being used in this though.

Besides from the obvious motion tracking, lighting and 3D sound design (no idea what the term is called) and a basic scene had to be created to cast shadows.

Plus the second one had particle effects.

Sure only 10% is of the 3D model but about 60% of the video is all CG.
