Hi, (yay, first thread on this board!) I just started 3D classes at school, and our teacher gave us some stuff to do because he will be away for two weeks. So now, I've got to do a bowl filled with peppers in 3DS Max using MassFX.
The only problem I got is that I don't have a single idea on how to create a bell pepper using 3DS Max, and I've already done the bowl (picture related, it's the bowl I just made).
Any tips on how I should create the bell pepper?

TL;DR:New to 3DS Max and my teacher can't teach me how to create a bell pepper for my homework right now. Need help.

Does it simply need to be the shape of a bell pepper, or does it need to be a internal and external replication of a bell pepper?

Either way, do what a typical 2D artist will do. Take three or four angle shots of the pepper, drop them into your scene as quads, and take some primitive and extrude it into your desired shape.

You'll probably manage well if you simply take a sphere and start extruding orange-peel slices. Flatten the top and bottom a bit, and then do some smoothing passes. Add a stem and you're done.

Pepper variation is as easy as scaling and stretching your original pepper, or you can simply redo the process with variations.

Yes it simply needs to be the shape of the pepper.

And thanks a lot for the tips, it's going to be way easier now that I know how to start.

Actually, here. Now lets see you exhibit some ingenuity or talent.

Post results and we'll give your pepper a pepperness rating.

You both need to use a subtle bumpmap for the pepper surface. Plus the pepper material looks much more plastic.

... you mean asking for help because his teacher can't even be there to do his fucking job? It's not like he had somebody model the peppers for him and claim credit.

I hope you're a troll, but at the same time I know this industry has fucking stupid teachers who are too dumb to get a real job.

On that note, add a subtle bumpmap on the surface of the peppers. They actually look really good. I halfway expected you to fail miserably so I could point and laugh, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Just another pointer, I'd apply some deformers like taper or twist to alter the shape of the peppers so they all don't look the same. Right now, they're too perfect. We live in an imperfect world. Only apply a small percentage of the transform though. Be subtle.

Hey, OP here. I didn't post any pepper yet, I don't know why you think that I did these amazing peppers.

And yeah I'm just asking for help here because nobody help could help me at the moment.

Hey guys, OP here and I worked fucking hard at school on my pepper.
Damn, 3D is so hard but damn it is satisfying when you see your rendered object, shining out there and having a great time.
Thanks for the help guys.

And for you guys who thought I was at University, I'm actually in highschool. Being in the best highschool ever is awesome.

Its shit. Literal shit.

>Not hanging by the cross-guard
>The pommel looks like shit
>Point is sitting on the ground, way to fuck up the blade
>Lighting is pure ass
>Looks plastic
>Is that diffuse on the blade? Throw some gloss on that shit.
>Fuller tapers outward, not inward
>Sword's stand is too clean to look medieval
>Stand has zero texture
>No bump/normal/displacement maps on floor
>No background
>Useless gem on the blade, at least put it in the middle of the cross-guard

-10/10 Actually use a blueprint/reference image next time.

The hole in the stand isn't all the way through, it's only half, so the point is sitting on wood.

As i said, this is my first model ever, so i have no idea about most of the things you just said.

Also the school is not art / 3d modelling school, it's just a side class.

Honestly i have no idea how to do lightning. I just threw shit around.

The stand is too shiny, i should have used a different texture, but all textures i throw at it looks like ass and are stretched

But thanks for the tips, at least i'm learning

That doesn't matter. You can still ruin the blade. hang it from the cross-guard.

>As i said, this is my first model ever, so i have no idea about most of the things you just said.
Read a book, look on the internet, watch youtube tutorials. Don't just slap shit together and call it a job well done.

>Also the school is not art / 3d modelling school, it's just a side class.
