Adobe and Microsoft have the most pirated software in the world, yet they earn a shit load of money. You know why? Because they let their users pirate their shit, so they become dependent on it, like drug dealers that gives the first dose for free to the junkies.

Those software companies earn their big bucks selling their licenses to big business/enterprises who have employees that are already familiar to their software, because they already pirated it before.
This is Microsoft's and Adobe's bread and butter are at.

So no, pirating is not bad, not if you are learning though.
If you are a professional and you're making a living with those tools, then yes, you're kind of an asshole.
