Is there any reason to learn this piece of crap software?

My friend telling me to learn Houdini but it looks super complex. He said in a few years it would be required for non pro environment work.

He also said two years ago to learn Substance designer, but I ignored his advice.

I don't know /3/. Procedural workflow and nodes system looks interesting. Surely it will pick up like Substance designer did.

Can you even get a job now without knowledge of designer.
